"Picture our sessions as a sanctuary where your emotions are acknowledged, and your experiences are validated. Our collaboration is centered on mutual goal-setting, teamwork, and the creation of a nonjudgmental space for exploration, strength-building, and the development of coping strategies.
I provide a warm atmosphere and strive to ensure my clients feel safe and supported. I view therapy as a collaboration and actively seek input from my clients throughout the course of treatment. After we mutually set goals, we work together as a team to achieve them. In session, I provide a nonjudgmental space for my clients to be seen, heard, and validated. Utilizing a variety of resources, we explore your emotions and build upon your strengths to develop and discover coping strategies. I often guide clients through new skills and use grounding techniques to help regulate through difficult sessions.
A Personal Touch
As a gay man from the South, I intimately understand the journey of embracing one's authentic self. I spent years running from my true self, internalizing negative messages about queer people, and convincing myself I was flawed and unlovable. Therapy became the refuge where I could finally be me.
You deserve a counselor who not only empathizes with your lived experiences but understands the pain of being LGBTQIA+ in a culture that actively rejects our identities. I have felt my own version of that pain. As your counselor, I create an environment where you can release some of that pain and find a safe space to be your authentic self.
Throughout my graduate studies and internship, I specialized my learning and clinical practice in issues affecting the queer community, including how trauma impacts LGBTQIA+ individuals, the interplay and integration of spiritual identity and sexual identity, and how minority stress and discrimination affect our self-esteem and self-worth. If you are feeling fear, sadness, and hopelessness in the current environment, you are not alone."
