Lynelle Kearney - Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Back To Meet Our Team

**Lynelle is available for telehealth sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays**

Lynelle believes that counseling is a process that will help you to come back into alignment within your life, relationships, or within your family. Utilizing evidence-based practices such as EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy), Solution-focused therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Trauma-Informed care, and Strengths Based approaches, Lynelle will support you in getting from where you are to where you would like to be.

As a family systems therapist, Lynelle is the therapist for you if you are looking for support within your relationships and/or family. She specializes in Marriage/Couples Therapy, Family Therapy, Parenting Support, and Counseling for Kids and Teens. Her clients love her engaged approach to counseling. Together, you will dive into the areas that you would like support with to find new and more effective strategies and perspectives.

Counseling for Couples

Working with Lynelle means having a safe space to explore the issues that are getting in the way of feeling nourished by your marriage/primary relationship. Whether you are stuck in the rut of needing some relationship reconnection, wanting some help finding ways to better communicate, or are needing help in finding ways to trust your partner again, Lynelle is here to help.

Lynelle understands that all too frequently in our lives our priorities slowly shift over time, life happens, and all of a sudden we realize that our relationship needs some help in rejuvenating.  This is where counseling comes in. If something is just not feeling right within your relationship, it’s time to reach out for some help. With effective counseling you can re-discover the connection and passion that were so much easier to access at the beginning of your relationship.

Communication is everything….so what happens when there are communication breakdowns in your relationship? This inevitably leads to frustration, discouragement, and feelings of being disconnected from the person that is supposed to be the most important person in your life. We CAN help you learn more effective ways to communicate within your relationship. Couples who have healthy and effective strategies of communication feel more supported and satisfied with their marriage/relationships. If you feel like you and your partner are struggling to get on the same page, and just can’t find ways to communicate about the hard stuff (or the easy stuff!) then it’s time to consider coming in for some strategies and support. Lynelle can help you learn how to more effectively communicate. What you learn in sessions you will be able to immediately apply in your life and relationships.

If there has been a break in trust or an infidelity has happened, it’s also a good time to consider coming in for some support. While it often feels like there could not possibly be life after an affair or betrayal, it is possible. With the right help, and two partners who are wanting and willing to do the work to re-establish a healthy foundation, you can re-discover safety within your relationship again.

Lynelle welcomes all relationships to her practice of couples counseling. She works with traditional and non-traditional relationships as well as heteronormative and LGBTQIA identifiying clients.

As a pastoral counselor, Lynelle believes that our relationships are a reflection of our relationship with God/Goddess/Divine. In discovering or re-discovering your relationship to the divine (or what spirituality/faith means to you in your life), we are able to re-discover deeper levels of intimacy and connection within our relationships.

Counseling for Kids, Teens, and their Families

Lynelle believes strongly that the most effective way to help your child is to help you learn more effective ways to help your child. As their parent, you are uniquely in the best position to help them (even though it doesn’t always feel this way!). With Lynelle’s support you and your child will learn more effective ways of communicating with each other, more effective ways of regulating overwhelming emotions, and more effective ways to cope when things feel hard.

Similar to what happens in our primary relationships, the business of life can so often take over, and we lose the closeness and connection with our kids, and especially with our teens as they gain more of their own independence and responsibilities. Counseling is a way to get back in touch with each other, and to make sure that you are building a solid foundation as a family, and for your child/teens future as well. Coming in for family counseling means getting a time to learn new skills and strategies, and also getting a time to reconnect in the midst of the busy flow of life, work, and responsibilities. Lynelle will provide strategies to help increase cooperation, support you in utilizing loving but well boundaries discipline strategies, and help you achieve the goals and vision you have for your kids and your relationship.

Teens hold a special place in Lynelle’s personal and professional heart. The phase of being “in-between” childhood and adulthood comes with many challenges, and many opportunities for growth and self-understanding. Lynelle knows that it often takes someone who is not a parent to help teens explore and understand themselves and to help them realize what they are truly capable of. If teens are feeling anxious, depressed, or are starting to engage in risky behaviors, Lynelle can help your teen get in touch with what is important, and learn effective mood and emotion regulation strategies that they will benefit from through their entire lives.

Trauma-Informed Support for Adults and Teens

Lynelle’s experience working at the Sexual Assault Center of Pierce County has deeply informed her approaches to working with trauma and overwhelmingly stressful life experiences.  Sometimes when bad things happen, we can feel like something has been taken from us, and it’s hard to find a way to get it back. While the events of the past cannot be erased or changed, there is hope of life without these circumstances clouding the present.

If you are experiencing stress, PTSD, anxiety, low self-esteem, or just feel like you are falling apart inside, Lynelle is here to walk alongside you on the path to healing and recovery. With Lynelle as your ally, you will have the opportunity to heal from the wounds of the past, and intentionally create your future within your life, your relationships, and within your family.
