Even in the happiest relationships, couples still go through hard times and encounter challenges. These difficulties are a guarantee in life, and no one can escape them entirely.

The good news is that if you and your partner are going through a rough patch, you have many resources available to help you come out of it stronger and healthier. One of the best resources available for romantic partners is couples counseling.

Professional Counseling to Address All the Issues

At Thrive Counseling Center, we offer couples counseling in Federal Way. Our trained therapists understand how to work with couples and how to maneuver the unique issues that spouses and partners face.

Some of the most common reasons couples seek professional help from a counselor include:

  • Problems with intimacy, including the frequency of sex or feelings surrounding physical touch
  • Financial struggles or fears
  • Concerns about extended family and in-laws
  • Differences in opinion on how to raise, discipline, and support children
  • Road-blocks in their ability to communicate, including feeling like they “keep having the same fight.”
  • General unhappiness or complacency; feeling like “roommates” rather than partners

No Concern Is Too Big or Too Small

If you and your partner have never tried couples counseling before, it’s reasonable to have some hesitations. After all, opening up to a total stranger about your life’s most intimate details doesn’t come naturally to most people.

Many couples who see us for therapy have never participated in individual counseling before, and it can take time to open up and feel comfortable letting a third party into the relationship. Our goal at Thrive Counseling Center, however, is to help relationships thrive in whatever way we can.

If a problem is causing discord in your relationship, then it’s something we care about and want to help you fix. No concerns about your marriage or partnership are too small or too big, and we never want you to hesitate if you think counseling can help. We will never judge you or your relationship—we only want to offer healthy suggestions on how to improve it.
