Schedule With Isabel

Working with Isabel means getting the help you need to shift and change what's getting in the way of the life you envision for yourself, your children, and/or your family.

Isabel believes strongly in therapy as a collaborative effort between herself and her clients. This means that Isabel will guide you through every step of the journey discovering new and more effective ways to understand yourself and/or your child/teen.

Isabel comes to Thrive Counseling Center from a background working with children, adolescents, and adults in both in-patient as well as outpatient settings in her previous home state of Illinois. She draws on her experience and training to artfully blend creative therapeutic arts, mindfulness/meditation approaches, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in her work with her clients. Isabel’s clients appreciate her highly supportive and non-judgmental approach to therapy.

As a native Brazilian, and fluent speaker of Portuguese as well as English, Isabel understands first hand the cultural complexities that can come with having two home countries. Isabel understands that how you identify culturally will impact how you understand yourself, your children, and your family.  Her sensitivity and understanding of the impact of cultural identity and experiences are appreciated by her clients of all ages and cultural backgrounds.

Support for Adult Clients

No matter what brings you in, Isabel will support you in finding effective solutions and strategies that you will be able to take home and use immediately. She will also help you learn how to understand and think about things differently using evidence-based mindfulness approaches.

If you are ready to get out of autopilot mode and into a life living more fully in the present, with awareness and intention, Isabel is the therapist for you.  Using mindfulness approaches, Isabel will help you learn to let go of patterns of pushing down your thoughts and feelings that are no longer serving you.  She will help you learn how to effectively deal with what you have been stuffing down, or in which most frequently ends up having negative consequences, impacting our relationships, our work, or even our health.

Support for Child and Teen Clients

In her work with children and adolescents, Isabel utilizes expressive arts and play therapy to help her younger clients express themselves, cope, and learn new ways of dealing with what they are struggling with.

Children especially often have a hard time sharing what they are going through with words. Rather, they communicate their thoughts, feelings, and experiences through their play.  Using the language of play and the medium of art, Isabel will find the most effective way to help your child/teen navigate the challenges they are facing.

Isabel works with child and teen clients who are struggling with:

  • Worries and/or Anxiety
  • Depression, Loneliness, or feeling Isolated
  • ADD/HD, Learning Disabilities, Autism/Asperger’s
  • Big transitions (moves, divorce, loss of a loved one)
  • Trauma and Overwhelming Experiences

Support for Parent Clients

If you are struggling as a parent to know how to best address the behavioral, emotional, and/or academic challenges of your child or teen, Isabel will help you put systems in place that help you as well as your child/teen.

With Isabel’s support, you will discover the best and most effective ways to handle challenging behaviors and emotion regulation issues.
